'Absolute joke' - Viewers outraged by latest Dancing with the Star elimination

Comedian Gearóid Farrelly was the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing with the Stars on Sunday night.

Farrelly and his pro partner Stephen Vincent danced a Charleston to Emeli Sandé and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra’s version of Beyoncé's 'Crazy in Love' for the Orchestra Night special episode.

The couple ended up in the dance-off despite scoring a respectable 33 points from the judges. Mrs Brown's Boys star Danny O'Carroll and his partner Salome also found themselves in the dance off with the same score.

Commenting on his time on the show, Gearóid said: "This has been the happiest few months of my life. I think it's important to say that the pro dancers are just the most unbelievable people.

People only see the choreography and dancing, but they are literally our therapists, our lifelines in this whole thing. We didn't win the glitterball, but sweat makes good cement, and we got a good friendship out of it!"

Once again, Sunday night's elimination has stirred some controversy online with many fans arguing the comedian didn't deserve to go. One person commented: "Geared & Stephen were brilliant, danced with props to perfection, it's a travesty Gearoid was sent home."

Another said: "Gearóid and Stephen have been brilliant every week so sorry to see them leave tonight."

Yet again, celebrity chef Kevin Dundon survived another week despite being bottom of the leader board with 24 points. Viewers have argued that it should have been Dundon in the dance-off instead. One person said: "Kevin should have gone even last week, it's beyond a joke how these two brilliant dancers are gone."

Someone else commented: "Love Kevin as a chef, not a dancer, not fair. I won't be watching it next year."

Despite criticism from some fans, the chef has received a lot of support. Judge Karen told Kevin on Sunday night: "You're improving every week, your frame was a lot better. You deserve to be here and I believe in you. You make everyone smile!"

Others have pointed to his dances as being "great entertainment" and "fun to watch."

It was yet another stellar week for Olympian Rhys McClenaghan and his partner Laura Nolan who scored an almost perfect 39 points with their Contemporary Ballroom to the The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony.'

The pair have been receiving an abundance of praise online, with many saying they deserve the win. One person wrote: "Rhys is just brilliant. Hope he wins. He's so entertaining."

As the contest edges closer to the final, the battle between the two favourites McClenaghan and Taekwondo athlete Jack Woolley gets even more intense.
