Ryan Straney died in Sydney

The GAA community is rallying to raise funds for a repatriation trust, in memory of Ryan Straney, who died in a road traffic accident in Sydney.

Ryan passed away aged 27 on April 15 in Sydney as the result of a tragic accident.

In his memory, family and friends from the GAA community have organised a fundraiser on behalf of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

“The pain we are feeling is indescribable, as he was truly one in a million. The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust are helping the family navigate the difficult journey of bringing our beloved Ryan back to Ireland and we’d like you to help support the amazing work they do, at this exceptionally difficult time,” they said on GoFundMe.

Ryan was originally from Upper Springfield Road, in Belfast.

Beloved son of Vincent and Sharon, loving brother to Declan and Calum. Cherished grandson of Geordie and Theresa. He will be sadly missed by his wider family circle and friends at home and abroad.
