Cian Cawley remains under specialist care as family faces long and uncertain road to recovery

A fundraiser has been launched to support Ballina man Cian Cawley, who is facing a long road to recovery from undergoing an emergency brain surgery after suddenly becoming critically unwell.

Cian remains under specialist medical care, with his family now preparing for further treatment.

His cousin Rachel Cawley set up the fundraiser to help Cian’s parents, Mona and Baz, focus entirely on Cian and alleviate financial pressures associated with time away from work, travel, rehabilitation and other unexpected expenses.

Cian is also a big brother to Riley, Zak and Corey, who, according to the family, love and look up to him enormously.

In an appeal accompanying the fundraiser, Rachel described the past number of days as among the most frightening and difficult the family has ever experienced.

“With Cian facing further treatment and a long recovery ahead, we want them to be able to stay by their son’s side and focus completely on Cian without having to worry about the financial pressures that can come with time away from work, travel, rehabilitation and other unexpected expenses,” she said.

The appeal has already raised more than €6,400, with donations continuing to come in from family, friends and members of the wider community.

Those who wish to support Cian and his family can do so by donating or sharing the GoFundMe campaign.
