Mayo's Championship campaign continues on Sunday, as they take on Leitrim in the Connacht semi-final at MacHale Park, with Galway awaiting the winners in the provincial final later in the month. In this episode of the Mayo News football podcast we preview the Leitrim game in the company of Mayo News sports editor Mike Finnerty who is joined by Billy Joe Padden and Ger Flanagan.
The lads talk about why Leitrim are going to be really up against it on Sunday, what the underdogs might have learned from Sligo’s approach the last day and what we should be looking for from a Mayo perspective. They also pick out a few Mayo players they would love to see get some game-time next Sunday.
Billy Joe and Ger also explain why they think the GAA football Championship has to change and they go on to set the scene ahead of next week’s Connacht Under-20 championship game between Mayo and Galway.
Plus, we hear from renowned Mayo News columnist Seán Rice who talks about what he’s made of Mayo’s season so far and what he thinks of the state of the GAA Championship at the moment.
