Kieran Kiely is in the ‘30 club’ with me so I’m in good company.

Best thing about being from your town?
The people. We have some great characters in the town.

Favourite Mayo player?
Keith Higgins. He’s a machine.

What’s your guilty pleasure TV show?
Analysis of our last game by Ronan Kenny. Always entertaining.

What’s your most prized possession?
My dog.

One old club match you’d love to watch back?
Ballyhaunis v Hollymount Carramore in the Intermediate final in 2014.

Favourite team-mate?
Kevin Gallagher, we always share lifts to training and matches. Nice quiet and reserved lad.

Celebrity you’d most like to hang out with?
Shane Lowry. Might help me with my golf swing and seems like a sound guy.

Favourite post-match meal?
My girlfriend is an excellent cook so anything she makes always hits the spot.

Favourite song to get ‘up’ for a match?
Jack Coyne, Eamon Phillips and Cormac Phillips do a great version of Love Story by Taylor Swift.

Last book you read?
I teach English. Does Romeo and Juliet count as a book?

Thing that makes you nervous?
Seeing Joe “Chow” Sutton line up a shot for a point or seeing Eoghan Collins line up a shot for a goal. Both equally terrifying.

Favourite sporting team?
Chelsea.

Best advice you ever got?
Going back to when I started playing for the senior team here: ‘If Decky Doyle calls for the ball, get out of his way!’
Served me well.

Last time you cried?
Cried laughing at a few comments from Christy “Monkey” McCrudden.

Any superstitions?
No. Paul Jordan has enough of them for the whole team though!

What winning a county title would mean in three words?
Can’t retire now.
