Bridie Kilgallon (née Flanagan)


Tonranny, Westport and formerly Mayo Abbey, Co Mayo

Bridie was the only child and grew up in Mayo Abbey. She married her beloved Peter in St Mary’s Church, Ballinrobe in 1954. The following year their daughter Mary was born and they then moved to Tonranny, Westport, where the next year, their son Peader was born. Bridie lived a quiet and active life and was often seen exploring on her bicycle, she was a fine baker and turned her hand to gardening and was always working hard in her home and on the farm.
Bridie had a love of animals which she continued into her last days with the family farm having a legacy of 62 sets of twin calves which she was very proud of.
Bridie passed away peacefully following a short illness in her 90th year in St Joseph’s, Ballina, in the company of her son and neighbours.
Bridie reposed in Navin’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening, December 11, 2022, with funeral Mass to celebrate her life said by Fr Charlie McDonnell in St Mary’s Church, Westport on Monday, December 12 at 11am.
Bridie was laid to rest in the new Cemetery, Castlebar alongside her daughter Mary.
Bridie is predeceased by her husband Peter and daughter Mary and sadly missed by her loving son Peadar, relatives, neighbours and friends.
