Margaret Duffy

Carrowbeg, Kilmeena, Co Mayo

Margaret was the daughter of Bridgit and Dennis O’Donnell, one of nine children who grew up in Ballycroy, a place always in her heart. Margaret married Gerry Duffy of Carrowbeg, and had four children and four grandchildren, her family meant everything to her and she lived every moment for them. She instantly became a well-respected and much-loved member of Carrowbeg. Sadly, Gerry passed away 21 years ago but strength and courage brought her through difficult times and we were very lucky and proud to call her our mother.
Margaret was renowned for her easy going nature and good humour, loved visits from family and friends who will all miss her dearly and will miss the endless cups of tea and chats. She greatly enjoyed her set dancing and Michael Cummins was a must on a Wednesday night. She always had time for fun and the bit of craic, along with her passions for baking her famous and well talked about apple tarts.
Margaret is deeply missed by her loving daughter Denise (UK), sons Micheál, Declan and Joe (Kilmeena), daughters-in-law Deirdre and Vanessa, grandchildren Dylan, Adam, Emily and Rebecca, sisters Winnie Shevlin, Breda Foley, Kay Sheridan (Belmullet), Geraldine Doran (Bangor), Alice Grealis (Ballycroy), Ellen O’Boyle (Killala), Phylis Moran (Newport), brother Denis (Mulranny), brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
