Killawalla, Westport, Co Mayo
Delia was the daughter of the late Mike and Mary Kate Duffy and was the eldest of nine children. She was well-known in the community having spent most of her working life in the Shoe Factory in Westport and Portwest. Delia married Hubert Feehan in 1971 and they had seven children and 14 grandchildren. Her husband and family meant everything to her. Sadly, Hugh passed away suddenly exactly 17 years previously to the day. Also, in recent years, Delia suffered more loss and heartbreak. Both Delia’s daughters, Fiona and Deirdre lost their lives to cancer in 2017 and also her grandson Shaun in 2016. Delia is also predeceased by her brothers, Joe Duffy (England), Kevin Duffy (Derrywash) and her niece, Geraldine Killeen (Westport).
Delia was renowned for her easy-going nature and loved nothing more than visits from family, friends and neighbours. She enjoyed music, she was known to have put the odd fiver on a horse race and she excelled at the game of ‘25’. Indeed, she finished fifth overall in an All-Ireland 25 Championship held in Westport some years back, which was a great achievement.
Delia will be very sadly missed by her family, neighbours and many friends. She is survived by her loving sons, Kevin (Cushin), Michael (Cork), Hugh Paul (Killawalla), Padraig (Aughagower) and Noel (Aughagower), brothers, Paddy (Ballyheane), Raymond (Killawalla), Mick (England), sisters, Kathleen (Islandeady), Mary and Ann (Westport), daughters-in-law, Mary, Susan, Fiona and Ruth, sons-in-law, John Audley and Shay McGreal, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
May she rest in peace.
