St Patrick’s Well, Aughagower and Slingan Roe, Clogher, Westport
Mark was born on October 16, 1971 to Patrick and Edna Walsh. He attended Leitir National School and Westport Vocational School. After finishing school, Mark headed on his travels firstly to England and then onto Australia. Upon return, he worked locally in many different trades. In 2005 he returned to education and completed many courses where he graduated from his final course in 2019. Mark was awarded a certificate in sports and recreational studies. He then began his journey in the sports industry, firstly in the Republic of Fitness gym where he made many good friends. Finally, earlier this year Mark started his own gym which he proudly called Phoenix Fitness and established his very own gym family. Mark never travelled alone, he always had his two most loyal companions by his side, his two dogs Cookie and TJ.
Mark was a loyal brother and friend to everyone and was always at the end of the phone if you needed him. This is reflected in the many lovely stories and condolences that we have listened to and read over the last number of weeks.
Mark was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Edna and his brother Martin. He will be truly missed by his brothers Michael, Patrick, John, Tony, Peter, Christy, Davie, Brendan and Paul, his sisters Maureen McGowan, Ann Lavelle, Geraldine Concannon, Eileen Dolan and Cathy Burrows, his goddaughter Rebecca, nieces, nephews, his dogs Cookie and TJ, neighbours and many friends.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
As kids we lived together,
We fought, we laughed,
We did not always show the love that we had inside.
We shared our dreams and plans,
And some secrets too,
All the memories we share is what bonds us now to you.
We grew to find,
We have a love that is very strong today,
It is a love shared by our family,
That will never fade away.
You are our brother,
Not by choice,
But by the nature of our birth,
We could not have chosen a better one,
You were the best on earth.
