Judy Lynskey

19 Springfield Drive, The Quay, Westport

Judy lived in Springfield Drive for the past 20 odd years, when she arrived she got to know Patsy and Maureen and all the Ketterick family. Fr Charlie discribed Judy coming to The Quay like, “the ships coming to the harbour long ago to find shelter and security, that’s what Judy found in The Quay community”.
Judy lead a busy and independent life, attending the Rehab Group in both Westport and Castlebar, where she developed so many skills, flourishing in the particular areas of cookery, arts and crafts and crochet. Music was Judy’s passion, she loved all genres especially Country and Western. She loved to listen to music and often was a familiar face in The West Bar, The Mill Times Hotel and The Porter House, where she would enjoy the live music sessions and her favourite drink. Judy enjoyed her daily routine, it was busy at times but always fulfilling. Apart from being a lover of the daily soaps in the evenings, Judy would crochet and enjoy doing her crossword puzzles.
Every Friday Judy went to town to collect her pension, she would purchase her weekly magazines and would always enjoy her favourite meal out with a few beverages. Judy did her weekly shopping in Centra, The Quay, where she was always a welcome face, she was a big part of the community, everyone knew Judy. She was friendly in nature and had the most beautiful smile and loved being part of the community at The Quay and in Westport Town and went on many enjoyable excursions with The Active Retirement Group in Westport and The Lions Club.
The Ketterick family have shared many lasting memories with Judy, weather it was family weddings or christenings, communions or confirmations, birthdays or Christmas. ‘Jude’, as she was fondly known by family, was always, very much part of  the family and was always welcome. Jude loved  to sing!, her party piece was the beautiful song ‘all kinds of everything’, she sang this song with all her heart to the delight of her audience.
Judy was a vivacious, fun loving, gentle and kind spirit, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Judy will also be sadly missed by her family in Belmullet.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
