London and formerly of Shraheen
Vincent was born on November 17, 1949, the youngest of a family of ten children, five boys and five girls, to Thomas and Mary Basquil, Principal of Shraheen NS. He was educated in Shraheen NS and later in St Mary’s College, Galway. The first trauma of his young life was the sudden death of his mother at 53 years of age in 1961 and a few years later the sudden death of his father at 60 years of age in 1965. Vincent didn’t finish his education in Galway and emigrated to London to join his brothers. It was there he met Mary Carey, the girl who was to become his wife and life’s partner, they reared a family of four, three girls and one boy and were happily married for 47 years. Vincent is survived by his wife Mary (nee Carey), daughters Denise, Karen and Ciara, son Conor and eight grandchildren, sisters Peggy Tunney (Derrycroff), Maureen Giblin (Rooskey, Co Roscommon), Delia Lyons (New Jersey USA), sisters-in-law Chris Basaquil (Kent, England), Peggy and Breege (Boston, USA), brothers-in-law, John, Tom, Pat and Michael Carey (London), Eddie Giblin (Rooskey), ten nephews and seven nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers Paddy, Jackie, Tommie, Henry and twin sisters Rose and Emma, who died in infancy. May his soul rest in peace.
