Paddy Gavin

Glenamurra, Leenane

The peaceful death took place of Paddy Gavin, Glenamurra, Leenane at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar on November 28, 2018 after a short illness. News of his passing evoked much regret throughout the region where Paddy was so well known among the farming fraternity. Paddy was a renowned hard working man who was content with the work he did and who always ensured it was carried out to the highest standard.
Paddy grew up in Glenamurra, son of Edmund and Annie Gavin (R.I.P.). Practicing his faith was central to his daily life, however, Paddy certainly experienced sadness and loss not least being predeceased by his younger brother - Peter’s tragic death.
Paddy returned to Glenamurra from England where he had worked for many years to take care of his aged father. Paddy was a very social man who liked to go for nights out and a few pints and loved good music and song.
Paddy also had great interest in and fondness for his nephews and nieces, he valued their company, indeed family based in America were very close to his heart and were always wonderful to visit. Also his grandchildren Conor and Sarah whom he loved dearly and looked forward to their visits on Sundays. Paddy will be dearly missed by his loving wife Anne, daughter Elizabeth and grandchildren Conor and Sarah and extended family.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
