Sonny Jennings



THE death took place recently at Brookvale Nursing Home, Ballyhaunis, of Edward ‘Sonny’ Jennings, Ballinagran, Balla. He was the last of his generation of the Jennings family from Ballinagran.
Sonny, as he was affectionately known to all, was one of a family of six and he was predeceased by his brothers Mattie, Brian and Pat and by his sisters Mary Ann Reaney and Bridgie McGreal.
He worked in McEllin’s in Balla for many years during the time when that business was a prominent employer in the district. He also helped out his brother Mattie and Delia and family with the land and farming in Ballinagran.
Sonny was noted for his kind and gentle nature and was never known to speak ill of any person. He was a loyal attendee at church services every week while his health allowed, mainly in Balla and Facefield.
He was a firm favourite in the family circle with his nieces and nephews and they all had a great fondness for Sonny. He will be fondly remembered by all of them.
Reposing was at Balla Funeral Home with burial Balla Cemetery following Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr Denis Carney, PP. He is survived by his nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
