Mary Keane (nee O’Brien)

Derrykell, Newport

The death has taken place peacefully at the Pilgrims Rest Nursing Home of Mary Keane (nee O’Brien) Derrykell, Newport. She was in her 86th year and was born in Derrynascobe, Killawalla.
Mary was a loving and hospitable person gentle and kind to everyone.
Her door in Derrykell was always open welcoming family friends and neighbours to a nice cup of tea and lovely homemade brown bread.
Mary was very kind to farm animals and loved taking care of them. She also had great faith and loved reciting the rosary. Mary and her husband Michael moved to the Pilgrims Rest Nursing Home in February 2007 and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary there in February 2010.
Following repose at the Pilgrims Rest removal took place to Newport Church where Fr Declan Carroll officiated at the reception ceremony.
Fr Declan celebrated her Requiem Mass followed by internment in Burrishoole Cemetery. Family and neighbours participated in the funeral liturgy.
Mary is very sadly missed by her loving husband Michael,  nephew-in-law Tommy and his wife Mary, niece-in-law Mary and her husband Michael, grandniece-in-law Aisling, grandnephew-in-law Kenneth and neighbours and friends.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
