A real countryman, Bill was held in the highest regard by all who knew him. He did some farming over the years and always retained an interest in things relating to the land and livestock.
He was a great man for music and set dancing and, back in the 1990s, was a regular at the Tuesday night sessions in Moran’s of Kilmovee where he loved to meet friends and neighbours. Bill’s party piece was ‘Old Faithful’, which he always sang at the end of the night in Moran’s.
He was one of the fine old stock of the Kilmovee area, a man who was highly thought of by all his neighbours, and a firm favourite in the local community. In declining health for some time, he spent the last few years in the kind care of the staff at the Oakwood Nursing Home in Ballaghaderreen.
Removal took place from Moran’s Funeral Home, Kilmovee to Kilmovee Church. Funeral Prayers were on Holy Thursday with the funeral proceeding to Niamh Mobhi cemetery. Mass for the repose of his soul was celebrated on Monday at 12 noon in Kilmovee Church.
Bill, who was predeceased by his wife Mary and by his daughter Irene, is survived by his son John, daughters Kathleen and Mary, in-laws, grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends.
