The planning approval for the Abbvie site in Westport comes seven weeks after the application was lodged with Mayo County Council

New extension approved for Pharma Company in Mayo

There are currently 1,300 employees in the Westport plant.

Mayo County Council has granted planning permission to Abbvie/Allergan for an extension Westport plant.

The plan consists of the construction of a new single-storey extension (approx. 147m²) to the east of the existing B1 Building with roof level access to the existing B1 Building first floor level with associated external access stair and railing systems.

Additionally to the extension, painting of the existing building's east façade (acrylic painted finish) to match the new extension and to refresh existing elevations will take place. Also, there will be associated site development works including new doors, steps, ramps, safety barriers and minor alterations to building access arrangements.

While planning permission has been granted, the approval is subject to four planning conditions. The decision due date is Tuesday, September 9.
