Uisce Éireann crews have arrived on Clare Island this morning to repair a major water main burst.

A number of customers on the island are experiencing a disruption to their water supply following the burst over the weekend. The areas affected included Kill, Glen, Fawnlass, Capnagower and the Quay.

Bottled water has been made available for residents and visitors to the island, which has experienced problems with its water supply for several years. The water system on the island will be upgraded later this year.

Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill assured customers that crews are on site today and are carrying out repair works as quickly as possible.

“We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We are working to restore normal supply across to customers affected.”
