This weekend sees a provincial decider in Castlebar, an All-Ireland Semi Final for Mayo U-14 girls while the Mayo Super League keeps on rolling
We’ll be around the grounds to cover all the action with on-the-button updates here as well as in Tuesday’s edition of The Mayo News.
CONNACHT SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Mayo v Galway
Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar, Saturday at 1pm
Galway have dominated the province in recent years as they are no stranger to silverware. There is no hiding, Mayo have had a very tough league campaign, without so many players for this season, there have been tough challenges for Liam Mc Hale’s side. A win over Leitrim was a confidence booster but they suffered a heavy defeat over this weekend’s opponents. Galway will be hot favourites, but in their home stadium, Mayo could rise to the occasion, but it’s a very big ask.

Mayo v Cork
St Brendan’s Park Birr, Offaly, Saturday at 2.45pm
Tom Carney’s side will be looking to continue their fine form. Their opponents Cork will be looking to get revenge on the girls in green and red as they suffered defeat in the 2023 final against Mayo. The Connacht champions got past Kildare most recently as the winners of this clash will meet the winners of Galway and Clare.
MAYO SFL DIVISION 1
Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin v Breaffy
Parke GAA grounds at 7pm
The men in black and amber have been in fine form of late as they most recently dismantled Ballinrobe in comfortable fashion. Breaffy are also in fine form as they aim to continue their 100% winning streak. Expect a high-scoring encounter between these two exciting sides.

MAYO SUPER LEAGUE
Westport United v Glenhest Rovers
Abbvie United Park, Westport at 11am
The top two face off in a West Mayo clash. Westport have a four-point lead at the top but have played an extra game. Castlebar Celtic have numerous games in hand so these two sides will be hoping they can stay at the summit for as long as possible. Expect goals in this one with both sides playing great football of late.
MAYO SUPER LEAGUE
Ballinrobe Town v Castlebar Celtic
The Green, Ballinrobe at 2.30pm
Chris Mc Cauley’s Ballinrobe side lost out to the the recent Connacht Cup Champions at the end of February, while the hoops still remain unbeaten as they’ve only conceded one goal in their six matches to date. Can Stevie Gavin’s Celtic keep on winning? It looks likely this weekend.
