Saoirse Reynolds will represent Ireland at the Bob Docherty Cup
Mayo soccer player Saoirse Reynolds has been called up to represent Ireland at the upcoming Bob Docherty Cup.
The international tournament will be held over the next two weeks, with Ireland and the North to go toe-to-toe in a reduced version of the tournament for 2026.
The Westport United player is the sole Mayo representative in the squad, which is managed by former Sancta Louisburgh teacher Richard Berkeley.
He is not the only Mayo man in the dugout, as Ballina Town goalkeeper and Saint Muredach's teacher Emmet Peyton will be the goalkeeping coach.
Berkeley spoke of his excitement at the upcoming competition.
"We're all really looking forward to the games. While it's disappointing that there is no tournament this year, these two games against Northern Ireland will provide a great challenge for us."
Ireland will be looking to extend their run at the top of the roll of honour, having won the trophy nine times in the last 24 years.
Ireland will play the first game in Newforge Sports Complex, Belfast, on Sunday, March 22, at 1 pm, before the second leg takes place at Home Farm FC, Dublin, on Sunday, March 29, at 2 pm
