FIXTURES: Mayo rugby clubs gear up for intriguing season

Ballina's former scrum-half Mickey Murphy has been appointed head-coach for the coming season, and will see his side face Tuam in the Cawley Cup

This weekend will see plenty of excitement in the Mayo rugby scene, as six sides get the chance to hone their skills ahead of what promises to be an intriguing league campaign.

Across Saturday and Sunday, the rugby parks and pitches will be a hive of activity, and clubs will be looking to see just where they stand with the league season looming large.

Here, we'll run you through all five games involving Mayo clubs, including a pair of tasty local derbies to whet the appetite.

CAWLEY CUP QUARTER-FINALS

Ballina v Tuam; Saturday at 7.30pm in Heffernan Park, Ballina

Westport v Castlebar; Saturday at 7.30pm in Westport

CURLEY CUP QUARTER-FINALS

Corrib RFC v Ballinrobe; Saturday at 7.30pm in Headford

Ballina 'B' v Corinthians 'C'; Sunday at 2.30pm in Heffernan Park, Ballina

Ballyhaunis v University of Galway; Sunday at 2.30pm in Ballyhaunis
