It all started for Dave Heffernan with Ballina RFC in the North of Mayo. He then played his first match for Connacht in 2012 against Welsh side Llanelli Scarlets in the then called Celtic League. Now he is going to reach a massive milestone: 200 matches for his province this Friday against Leinster in the RDS Arena.
Heffernan was part of the Pro12 winning Connacht team against Leinster in 2017, together with Tiernan O'Halloran.
Ballina RFC Chairman, Alan Rowe, was loud in his praise for Heffernan: "We're all very proud of David. He's an inspiration to everyone in the club, from our thriving Minis to our most experienced members. He came through the ranks here in Heffernan Park, a pitch named after his grandfather, Ivan, and is very proud of his home club. David can regularly be found here helping the younger generation develop in the game and we're absolutely delighted to see him reach the 200 cap milestone."
