Body-sculpting clothing, from waist-cinching knickers to bingo-wing busters, leg-slimming tights to cellulite-fighting jeans
Ah go on, cheat a little
Beauty Maggie Gibbons
Okay, so the only way to a healthy, truly slim, trim body is exercise and diet. But, there are a few new tricks out there that aim to help us smooth out those bumps and rolls painlessly, to help you feel your best as you huff and puff your way to that body beautiful. Some say it’s cheating, I say it’s good time management. Besides, there comes a time in your life when you understand that all the treadmill treading in the world won’t give you Beyoncé’s body. So why not take a helping hand?
Jean therapy You may well think you’ve heard it all when I tell you about Wranglers moisturising, cellulite-busting jeans. ‘Denim Spa Therapy for Legs’ has aloe vera and jojoba in the fabric which, they say, will make your legs look gorgeous, smooth and cellulite free. Some claim! If the jeans don’t do what they promise, don’t shoot the messenger! The Denim Spa line will be released in three cuts – two skinny fits and one slim. I’ll be beating myself into a pair as soon as these dream denims appear in the shops. I don’t believe a word of it, but in the name of research I will try them and report back to you… Tighten up …Or maybe I’ll just stick with my ‘slimming’ tights. J by Jasper Conran 60D black opaque shaping tights from Debenhams at €12.25 are affordable, and they look fab… Other types are available in Dunnes Stores and boutiques nationwide.
Waist not, want not Then again how about some lace ‘Waist Sculpt’ underwear? I got some as a pressie for Christmas, and found them seductive and beautiful – and they do cinch in the waist. At M&S they costs €30.
Bye bye bingo wings How do you feel about your arms? Afraid to wave? Too much jiggling going on? Enter ‘Canopi’. Retailing at €39.95, these lightweight sleeves (like tights for your arms) are an innovative way to add sleeves to a sleeveless top or dress. Available in black, white and grey. For information, visit www.canopi.ie or email canopiireland@gmail.com.
