A Mayo star playing for Carlton in the Australian Football League Women's has been recognised for her performances throughout the year.
Kiltimagh native Dayna Finn has been named in the initial All-Australian squad, basically the equivalent to the All-Star nominations in Gaelic sports.
Finn was signed in 2022 AFLW off-season, made her debut in 2023 and has steadily increased her game time.
Now, two years later, the 25-year-old midfielder has been named alongside 41 other players.
In round three this season, Finn was named player-of-the-match after a massive performance: She had 29 disposals, ten marks and one goal to her name for Carlton Blues against Western Bulldogs in round three of AFLW.
Being part of the initial All-Australian squad is just a first step.
The AFLW writes: "The final team of 21, which includes a captain and a vice-captain and selected as if playing in a match, will be announced at the W Awards on Monday November 24."
