Shots fired in Ballymun, Dublin as teenager hospitalised with serious injuries

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the discharge of a firearm in Ballymun, Dublin 11, on Sunday, 15th February 2026.

At around 12:35pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of a shooting incident at St Margaret’s Park.

An adult male, aged in his late teens, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and was transported by ambulance to hospital.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed and an incident room established at Ballymun Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-am) and was in the area of St Margaret’s Park between 11:30am and 1:30pm is asked to make this material available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
