Is Beyond The Pale cancelled? Organisers give major update amid cancellation rumours
Organisers of the Beyond The Pale music festival in Wicklow have rubbished rumours the event had been cancelled.
The alternative music festival, featuring the likes of Boney M, Róisín Murphy, TV On The Radio, Le Boom and Broken Social Scene on its line-up, is due to kick off next week, June 13-15, but reports in The Currency on Saturday suggested it was cancelled as the company behind it, Cupola Events Ltd, was being liquidated.
Reports suggests vendors lined up to attend the festival next week were told it wasn't going ahead. There was huge confusion among those with tickets on Saturday before organisers issued a short statement on social media on Saturday evening.
It read: "The rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. We are absolutely on next week, and raring to go."
The statement added: "Look, it’s unbelievably tough out there for independent festivals, venues, promoters, artists...we all know that. Today we very nearly stumbled, ngl. But the festival gods smiled upon us, and the fate of Beyond the Pale is secure for 2025, and for many years to come.
