The discovery was made late on Thursday night, and the area has been sealed off for a technical examination.
The body is believed to be that of a man, aged in his 40s, and the discovery, it is understood, was made by a member of staff at UHL.
A post-mortem is expected to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
The local coroner has been notified and the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the garda investigation.
