Gardaí responded to a disturbance outside the home of Minister for Integration Roderic O’Gorman last night, where a group of protestors had gathered and multiple anti-migration banners had been erected
Banners reading 'South Dublin Says No' and 'Close the Borders' were attached to railings outside Roderic O'Gorman's home in west Dublin. A video posted on social media shows a small gathering of people, many covering their faces, standing outside the Minister's home.
Slogans referencing a “plantation” also appeared on the banners, a term used by Irish advocates of the white nationalist Great Replacement conspiracy theory. Masked men could also be seen in shared widely across social media attempting to stop a car from turning onto the street.
Gardaí in Blanchardstown confirmed that they maintained a presence at the scene until the group dispersed, and no arrests were made.
They said in a statement that they do not comment on the security arrangements of any individual or group, adding that "matters of security, including those that pertain to the safety, security, and welfare of public representatives, remain under continuous review".
Protesters have previously gathered outside the homes of Simon Harris and Leo Varadkar which were widely condemned.
