Dublin Fire Brigade has confirmed that a car which went on fire on a busy section of the M50 has now been dealt with and the area cleared. 

The incident happened on Tuesday morning at Junction 12 at Firhouse Southbound.

"We've now finished on scene at the vehicle fire and traffic restrictions have been lifted," Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed in a social media post. 

"Thanks for your patience," they added. 

Transport Infrastructure Ireland had updated motorists and urged them to drive with care and expect delays.
