Eight flights in and out of Dublin Airport cancelled due to Storm Jocelyn

Eight flights have been cancelled by airlines at Dublin Airport due to Storm Jocelyn.

According to Dublin Airport, which posted a statement on their X (formerly Twitter) page at 7pm today (January 23), four arrivals and four departures have been cancelled due to strong winds.

In the statement, a spokesperson stated: "Strong gusting winds this afternoon also resulted in seven go-arounds, while two aircrafts diverted to other airports and returned shortly after.

"Winds are forecast to remain strong for the rest of this evening and into the early hours of Wednesday morning. As always, passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for updates regarding their flight."

The 6.35pm flight to Leeds Bradford and 6.50pm to Donegal are among the cancelled departures, as well as the 6pm arrival from Birmingham, and 9.45pm from Leeds Bradford.

Winds associated with Storm Isha resulted in the cancellation of approximately 29 flights yesterday morning (January 22).

Status Orange wind warnings are currently in place for Donegal, Galway and Mayo until tomorrow night (Wednesday January 24), with Status Yellow alerts announced for Clare, Kerry, Leitrim, Sligo, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, and Roscommon.

The Status Yellow alerts will be in place until between 2am and 5am tomorrow night.

Met.ie has advised people to avoid coastal areas and travel only when necessary due to fallen trees and damaged power lines.

In an update posted this evening, ESB Networks confirmed approximately 221,000 homes, farms and businesses have had their power restored following Storm Isha.

However, 24,000 customers who lost their supply during the storm remain without power with additional outages due to Storm Jocelyn.
