Round 2
Garrymore 1-13
The Neale 0-6

ANYBODY expecting a gripping contest in Garrymore on Friday evening was sorely disappointed as the homeside ran out comfortable winners to get their championship back on track.
The Neale battled gamely to the bitter end but were powerless to prevent a ninth successive defeat of the season as their inability to convert possession into scores proved costly again.
Martin Maloney’s Garrymore came flying out of the blocks and were 1-3 to no score ahead after 10 minutes with Jamie Oates hitting the net in the fourth minute.
By half-time they were 1-6 to 0-2 up with Tommy Conroy (free) and Ronan Hughes the only Neale players to hit the target.
The second half was played at a fairly pedestrian pace with the winners keeping The Neale at arm’s length without pulling up too many trees.
A run of six unanswered points ended the game as a contest with the pick of them coming from Mark Gibbons, Cathal Slattery, Darren Quinn and Enda Hession.
The Neale were also reduced to 14 men when Killian McHugh was sent off midway through the half after being booked for a second time.
Darren Quinn finished as Garrymore’s top scorer on the night with five points, two from frees, while Tommy Conroy shot three points for The Neale, one from play.
Garrymore will take on Ballintubber in round three while The Neale, who seem to be in freefall, face Belmullet.
