A talented young Mayo pianist from Louisburgh has claimed a top award at a prestigious music festival in Dublin.
Jack McDowell, a student at Louisburgh Music School, won the Coakley-Fuller Cup for Baroque Music at the Newpark Festival, held at the Newpark Academy of Music.

He was presented with his trophy by adjudicator Alex Bernstein following his winning performance of Bourrée I & II from JS Bach’s English Suite No. 2 in the Baroque category.
Louisburgh Music School congratulated Jack on what it described as a significant achievement, praising his hard work and dedication to his piano studies.
The fifth year Sancta Maria College student has been learning piano at the Louisburgh Music School for a number of years and also plays the organ.
A number of other Louisburgh Music School pupils are due to compete in the vocal competitions at the Newpark Festival tomorrow (Saturday).
The school also extended thanks to Mairéad, Alyssa, Hilda and the team at Newpark Academy of Music for organising and running the festival.
The win marks a proud moment for the Louisburgh music community and highlights the strength of young musical talent emerging from Co Mayo.
