The payments were delivered through a combination of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) supports, targeted national schemes, and rural development programmes.
Minister of State Alan Dillon said, "These payments are a lifeline for rural and coastal communities in Mayo, ensuring that families have the resources they need to sustain their livelihoods and continue producing world-class food."
The biggest allocations in Mayo included:
Other notable supports included the National Dairy Beef Weighing Scheme (€2.36 million), Beef Welfare Scheme (€543,810), and Compensation for Bovine TB (€1.73 million).
Across Ireland, payments administered by the Department exceeded €2.18 billion in 2025, reflecting the scale of investment in agriculture and fisheries. These schemes are designed to underpin farm incomes, promote sustainable practices, and strengthen the agri-food sector’s contribution to the economy.
Minister Dillon added, "The scale of investment demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting enterprise and hard work in rural Ireland. Agriculture and fisheries are the backbone of our economy, and these schemes help secure their future."
