Multi-County launch of Ireland’s East to West Camino

Multi- County Launch of Ireland’s East to West Camino

A Steering Committee from the Tochar Valley Rural Community Network launched a multi-county event called Ireland, East to West Camino this week in Rathcroghan Visitor Centre, Tulsk, Co Roscommon.

This walk will be from Downpatrick Co Down to Croagh Patrick in Co Mayo.

There was a large representation from the counties the trail passes through including Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Longford, Sligo, Roscommon and Mayo.

The Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council Liam O'Callaghan and the Leas Cathaoirleach from Cavan County Council Winston Bennet launched the event. Mary B Prendergast did MC while speakers at the event included Jeremy Schewe from North Carolina who is in charge of mapping skills.

Minister Dara Calleary sent a video link while Elaine Conroy and Dr Daniel Curley spoke of the importance of the Rathcroghan experience. Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice congratulated the organisers giving it his full support. Fr John Kenny gave a blessing for Pilgrims while Sr Maureen Lally spoke of the importance of communities and small businesses supporting this concept.
