The funeral will take place this evening and tomorrow of a young father who was killed in another horror road crash on the N17 near Claremorris.
Sean Maye, who was only 32 and from Tubbercurry in Sligo, was killed when the car he was the driver of was involved in a collision with a lorry in the townland of Corbally around 5.20pm on Monday evening.
Mr Maye is the seventh person to lose their lives in roads traffic accidents on the N17 this year. A meeting of the Claremorris Municipal District recently heard that there had been 16 accidents on the stretch of road this year and plans are underway to close eight of the junctions on the stretch of road.
GardaĆ are appealing for any witnesses to this latest collision to come forward. They are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to them.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Claremorris Garda Station 094 937 2080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
