THE eighth edition of Clann Mhuiris, the annual journal of Claremorris Historical Society, will be published on Friday November. 22 Well-known historian and genealogist, Gerard Delaney, will launch this year’s edition at 7.45pm in Claremorris Library. 

This year’s edition contains a variety of historical photos and articles relating to people and places associated with Claremorris and its history. These stories include the equestrian feats of the late Jimmy Corbin are recounted by Cormac Hanley while Eamonn Hughes recalls three generations of the Hughes family as monumental sculptors in the town as well as his father’s contribution to amateur drama in the 1940s and 1950s.

The early life and work of the late Garech de Brún of Castle MacGarrett, is the subject of an article by James Morrissey while the story of St Colmán, who had an enormous influence on the evolution of the early Christian church in this area, is described in ‘The life and times of St Colmán’.
