Poetry and Short Prose Open Mic Night
Castlebar's Linenhall Arts Centre will be hosting another fantastic event on Monday 7 October at 6.30pm with Poetry and Short Prose Open Mic Night. The Linenhall Arts Centre announced that this event will see the launch of what will become a monthly affair in Castlebar.
The open mic night will be a captivating evening dedicated to the beauty and power of the spoken word. All are welcome to join in on the session, whether you're an experienced writer or newcomer, this session will offer you the opportunity to shine! Each reader will have 5-10 minutes to share their work and there will be a featured reader for each session.
People attending this event are asked to simply pay what they can afford.

Martin Angolo: Idiot Wind
If comedy is more your thing, then you should be sure to check out Martin Angolo's comedy show in Claremorris Town Hall Theatre on October 19 at 8pm. Martin Ongolo is an award-winning Irish comedian who regularly performs at comedy clubs and festivals around the country as well as in the UK, Europe and US.
The comedian promises a night of humorously looking at modern Ireland's positive and negative cultural shifts in comparison to the rest of the world. The show, described as "silly and politely offensive", is guaranteed to be a great night for anyone who is looking for a laugh and a bit of craic!
A Comedy Tonight
In keeping with all things funny, Castlebar Musical and Drama Society will be presenting a theatrical evening of comedy featuring three plays by local writer Ken Armstrong on October 17. The highly anticipated 'A Comedy of Tonight' will take place in The Linenhall Arts Centre, with doors opening at 8pm.
The three plays that will be performed are entitled 'Dance Night', 'Conception, Pregnancy and Bert' as well as 'Two for a Tenor'. All three plays are sure to have audiences in stitches!
Tickets for this event cost €20.
Jamie Duffy
The incredibly talented singer Jamie Duffy is set to take to the stage on October 12 in the Linenhall Arts Centre. At only 22-years-old, Jamie Duffy has achieved amazing success in the Irish music scene. His beautiful debut single 'Solas' has amassed over 65 million streams on Spotify and its music video has gained more than 10 million views.

Bridge of Song - 5 Year Anniversary Concert
Linenhall Arts Centre will be hosting another fantastic event on October 16 with the Bridge of Song 5-year anniversary concert. This celebratory concert will feature a headline performance from singer-songwriter Emma Langford, as well as the special guest Brigid O'Neill.
Storytelling is said to be at the heart of Emma Langford's outstanding live performances, where she breath-takingly performs in the style of new wave Irish folk.
Tickets for this concert cost only €15.
