Ballinrobe’s Friar’s Lodge Nursing Home held a photographic exhibition to celebrate Nursing Home Ireland Week.

The theme, ‘Celebrating Life through Pictures’ saw residents, their families and staff celebrate a number of events to mark the week.

The week kicked-off with an exhibition featuring past and present photos of residents.

Residents enjoyed freshly baked scones and tea while we set up a photobooth to take more snaps. Local photographer Trish Forde visited the nursing home to take some professional shots, and Matt Keane delighted the residents with his songs and stories in the afternoon. Adrian and his Ice-cream Van made a surprise visit during the home’s music event.

Friar’s Lodge was opened in 2004 by Tanya and Gerry Gallen, natives of York and Donegal, as a purpose-built single storey Nursing Home providing quality long term and respite care for up to 64 residents. Many staff members are employed from the surrounding locality and further afield.

Alongside 24-hour nursing care we provide a varied activity program such as daily exercise classes, gardening, bowling, baking, card playing, bingo, sing-songs and more. Services such as hairdressing, chiropody and physiotherapy and others are also available on request.
