Gardaí arrest man after failing drug test on busy Mayo road

The man tested positive for cocaine, and the vehicle he was driving had a flat tyre

Gardaí made an arrest on the N17 in Mayo yesterday.

While patrolling N17 yesterday, Thursday, August 15, they spotted a vehicle being driven on the hard shoulder on the stretch of road near Kilkelly.

The car’s front right tyre was flat, and another was dangerously below the minimum tread depth of 1.6 millimetres.

When Gardaí pulled the driver in, they further discovered that he was disqualified.

The driver also failed a roadside drug test and was positive for cocaine.

He was arrested, and the car was seized.
