The call out came on Sunday night
The Corrib Mask Search and Rescue crew responded to a call on Lough Carra this past weekend.
CMSAR were contacted by the Gardai and Coast Guard on Sunday night, August 11, to respond to a 999 call on Lough Carra.
A boat had got into difficulty and was stranded on an island in the middle of the lake. The crew were tasked and proceeded to launch on Lough Carra using their zodiac inflatable from Tourmakeady.
Headed out late at night, the crew made their way to the last known location of the boat and were able to quickly locate the vessel. The two people aboard were safely transported back to shore and given a first aid assessment.

Posting on their Facebook page, the CMSAR reminded water users to ‘always have a means of communication’ and ‘wear a properly fitted life jacket’.
They wrote: “Don’t hesitate to call early when things start to go wrong. Call 999 or 112 and ask for The Coast Guard, who will dispatch the necessary services to help you. Many thanks as always to all the crew who responded late on a Sunday night and all who contributed to the fast response and good outcome.”
