From the Midlands to Mayo, artist Jacinta Guinan will feature in Birr Castle Demesne this summer

Mayo artist to feature at Birr Castle art exhibit

Artist, Jacinta Guinan

Artist Jacinta Guinan, who has lived in Killasser for over a decade, will be featured in Birr Castle Demesne’s art exhibit for eight weeks, beginning on August 19.

Much of Jacinta’s recent work has pivoted on the natural world in County Mayo. Her work has been described as ‘modern Irish landscape’.

Her painterly skies, textured fields, and rugged trees bring the viewer into a landscape they can virtually feel, hear and explore.

She will be exhibiting with Alison Rosse, aka Lady Rosse of Birr Castle.

Ms Guinan studied at Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork, and has refined and honed her techniques through self study.

Her work has been exhibited in The Union League Club of Philadelphia, National Gallery of Ireland, Ballina Arts Centre, Purdy Hicks Gallery London, and many more.

The Athlone woman comes from a large creative family and her grandfather, Charles Byrne, was a silversmith who worked for Gunning and Son in Dublin and re-guilded the seventeenth century chalice for the church of St Bernard in Longford.

Admission to the exhibition is free from 9am each day.

Event details can be found on the Birr Castle website.
