Production for a new Hollywood film is currently taking place in Mayo.

American actor and filmmaker Edward Burns is using Belmullet's Carne Golf Links to shoot the up-and-coming movie ‘Finnegan’s Foursome’, which he is directing.

Wild Atlantic Pictures is the Irish production company on the project.

Mr Burns has previously called Carne the ‘most glorious course in Ireland’, and has visited the Mayo location a handful of times to prepare for the new release.

The film marks Mr Burns’ return to feature films following a five-year-long hiatus.

‘Finnegan’s Foursome’ follows two middle-aged brothers and their respective sons who travel to Ireland to play the Finnegan Family’s annual golf outing, where they distribute the ashes of the family patriarch.

Mr Burns is best known for his acting performance as Private Reiben in Steven Spielberg’s historical war drama ‘Saving Private Ryan.’

He created, wrote, and directed the Epix (presently known as MGM+) series ‘Bridge and Tunnel’.
