The event takes place Friday, May 24
Castlebar Rotary Club and Mayo County Fire Service are joining forces to promote the importance of smoke alarms in the community.
The event will take place from 9am-3pm on Friday, May 24, in the car park at Tesco/Dunnes, Castlebar. This joint venture aims to raise awareness about fire safety and encourage the use of smoke alarms in every home.
EI Electronics, a leading manufacturer of smoke alarms, will also be present with their mobile smoke alarm display unit.
The event will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest technology in smoke detection and receive technical advice from industry experts.
During the event, attendees will see live demonstrations of smoke alarms and their benefits, receive guidance on installation and maintenance, as well as learning about the importance of fire safety and early warning systems, and engage with the organisers.
"Our goal is to ensure that every home is equipped with functioning smoke alarms," said Finian Joyce, Castlebar Rotary Club and Ex Chief Fire Officer of Leitrim Fire Service.
"This event will help educate the community about fire safety and demonstrate how simple steps can save lives,” he continued.
Aileen O’Connell, Mayo County Fire Service Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer added: “This event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. There will be opportunities to ask questions, participate in demonstrations, and receive advice on fire safety”.
