The celebrations take place in Castlebar today
Mayo Autism Parents Support Group (MAPS) will celebrate their one-year anniversary with a cup of tea.
As part of Autism Awareness Month, the Mayo Autism Parents Support Group will celebrate their anniversary with a special tea event, today, Thursday, April 18, at The Family Centre, Castlebar.
This milestone marks a year of unwavering dedication, support, and empowerment for parents navigating the journey of autism in the Mayo community.
Founded and facilitated by Terisina Fitzpatrick, the parent run group is dedicated to providing support, resources, and advocacy for the families of autistic children and teenagers in the Mayo area.
With a mission to foster a supportive network, share resources, and advocate for understanding and acceptance, the group has made significant strides in supporting each other in the group.
The founder said: "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has been a part of our journey over the past year – from our dedicated members to our supportive community partners, The Family Centre, Castlebar & TACU Resource Centre, Ballinrobe, and local businesses who have helped support in various ways.
"As we look ahead, we are committed to continuing our efforts to empower, educate, and uplift parents, and branch out to other areas of Co. Mayo. Our group meets once a month, enjoys a cup of tea, chat & share stories, resources, in a safe, confidential environment. Groups are free to attend and our next group is this Thursday, April 18th, at 7pm at the Family Centre Castlebar,” she added
