Keem Beach was chosen as this year's fundraising location

Dive in for a good cause and join Family Carers Ireland for their national fundraiser at Keem Beach.

The charity, which provides support to family carers nationwide, announced Keem Beach as the location for its national fundraising event, the exhilarating ‘Cold Water Dip’.

Scheduled for Sunday, April 21, the event calls upon the local community to make a splash for a noble cause.

Each year, the ‘Cold Water Dip’ stands as a unique opportunity for supporters to engage in a fun, spirited activity while championing the invaluable work of family carers.

Participants are invited to register for the event on Family Carers Ireland website with an entry fee of €10, with an optional fundraising page also available.

Angelina Hynes, from Oranmore, who was named Netwatch Galway Family Carer of the year in recognition of the care she provides to her daughter Zoe who has Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome, shares her enthusiasm, and said: “The journey of caring is often one walked in solitude, but Family Carers Ireland has been a beacon of hope and support for us. Their assistance has transformed my experience into one of connection and optimism.

Ms Hynes said that joining the challenge helps raise ‘crucial funds and awareness’.

She added: “This ensures that family carers like me aren't navigating this path alone. Your plunge could be the ripple that helps keep us all afloat.

Regional Support Manager West at Family Carers Ireland, Vicky Ward, echoed this and encouraged  everyone to ‘dive into this unique opportunity to support a vital cause’.

“The ‘Cold Water Dip’ is more than a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of family carers. We stand with Angelina and countless other family carers, recognising their unwavering commitment. We invite everyone to Keem Beach on April 21st to take part in this memorable event. Together, we can make a difference one dip at a time,” she concluded.
