Local woodwork designer Ed Forristal of Forristal Woodwork outside Westport has taken part in Design & Crafts Council Ireland's (DCCI’s) ‘Made Local’ campaign.
Each piece of work is handmade by Ed in his Mayo workshop, using a blend of modern machinery for the milling process and traditional hand tools for joinery and finishing.
DCCI’s ‘Made Local’ initiative highlights the originality, quality and value of Irish designed and craft-made products.
It is a reminder to people that buying locally produced, well-crafted products is much more meaningful, sustainable, and impactful.
‘Made Local’ encourages consumers to consider their purchases carefully and make mindful buying decisions in choosing beautiful, high quality, sustainable products from designers and craft makers in Ireland.
96 percent of ‘Made Local’ businesses have said they found the campaign positive, with 87 percent noticing a beneficial impact on sales.

Forristal Woodwork believes in the importance of long-lasting, handbuilt, quality furniture.
Mr Forristal takes the living material and embraces it by incorporating live, waney edges into his pieces, and as a result, each piece will vary and be unique depending on the character of the wood.
