Members of Castlebar Foróige Club are undertaking an Awakathon for the Mayo Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service
OVER 50 members of Castlebar Foróige Club will wait up through the night to raise money for the Mayo Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service.
Based in the Family Centre in Castlebar, they provide a free support and counselling service to families who have been bereaved by suicide.
This Friday, Transition Year Castlebar Foróige Club members from all three local secondary schools will take part in an ‘Awakathon’ to raise funds and awareness for this service.
In the past two years, the club has raised money for MSPCA, NWSPCA and most recently almost €5,000 for Daisy Lodge in Cong.

Their last fundraiser for Daisy Lodge was inspired after one of their young members was diagnosed with cancer and used the therapeutic centre in Co Down during her treatment.
Stella O’Malley, a leader with Castlebar Foróige Club, said the group had ‘grown into an exceptional group of young people’ since they first joined Foróige in 2021.
“As leaders in Castlebar Foroige Club we are so proud of this fantastic bunch of young people, they make our job as volunteer leaders so easy! We ask that the community support them in this extremely important fundraiser,” she said.
Businesses who are willing to donate towards this fundraiser can contact any of the leaders in the TY club.
