(credit: Keith Ewing) Keem beach amongst the top 10 routes
A list of the top ten best dog walking spots in Ireland have been revealed, and it includes two Mayo routes.
Keem beach in Achill came in at number four on the list, while Wild Nephin National Park secured a spot at number seven.
With the help of Betfair Casino, the popularity of each spot was measured by a unique index score - based on Trip Advisor rankings, as well as Instagram hashtags and views - with the lower the overall index score, the higher the ranking.
The famous Keem beach has just recently been named among the world’s 100 best beaches by Lonely Planet, and was the only Irish beach to make the list.
Wild Nephin National Park situated in Letterkeen, which is set to be twinned with the Yosemite National Park in California, covers a vast 15,000 hectares of uninhabited and unspoilt wilderness, dominated by the Nephin Beg mountain range.
The number one spot was given to Killarney National Park in County Kerry.
From coast to countryside, the Emerald Isle has a plentiful array of picturesque beauty spots to be enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike.
From beloved national parks, to stunning stretches of sandy beaches and archaeological sites steeped in folklore, there’s so much to discover on foot.
