Mayo bus company Corduff Travel are set to expand their workforce by 100 percent with their latest expansion in Castlebar

RENOWNED Mayo bus company Corduff Travel is set to create over 100 jobs in Castlebar following its purchase of the old Eircom building.

Corduff Travel is planning an extensive development and refurbishment of the Golden Mile Industrial Estate building and site, which will create more than 100 jobs for the local community.

These jobs will range from mechanics, technicians, sales representatives, administration staff and roles will be from apprentices right up to qualified personnel.

The existing Eircom building will be developed into office space for its expanding workforce, which is set to grow by 100 percent in the next 18 to 24 months.

The company also has plans to construct a large-scale heavy goods vehicle garage which will operate 20 hours a day as a one stop garage for all hauliers and bus/coach operators.

Corduff Travel started with a single minibus in Rossport in North Mayo and now carries one of the largest fleet of coaches and minibuses in the country.

With a fleet of over 140 vehicles ranging from four to 60 seats, the Corduff Travel Group directly employs over 150 people.

The company expanded into Castlebar in 2014, where it operates an office and garage facility in the Golden Mile Industrial estate close to its new premises.

Its current premises has space for ten office personnel and one pit for heavy goods vehicles, which did not meet the requirements of the expanding company.

The company has been run by its current managing director, Michael Corduff Jnr, since 2013.

Cyril Burke of DNG Cyril Burke wished Mr Corduff well with his company’s latest venture.

“The site is ideal for their requirements and it is another win for Castlebar to be in a position to host the Corduff Travel Headquarters” said Mr Burke.

The former Eircom building was acquired by DNG Burke Connolly Maloney and was home to 200 workers at its peak.

The six-acre site boasts 25,000 square feet of office space a gated security entrance, warehousing and large amounts of car parking.
