Anger at Castlebar teaching cuts; Speed dating with a difference; The Rice men cometh
Public meeting hears of Castlebar parents’ anger
There was a very large turnout last night at a protest meeting held in Castlebar over proposed cuts to teaching staff at St Anthony’s School in Castlebar. Parents are angry at the fact that the Minister for Education plans to cut the number of special needs assistants at the school from 13 down to nine and they made their views known at the meeting to the public representatives who attended. The Minister Batt O’Keeffe has yet to comment on the situation publicly.
Speed networking event this evening in Castlebar
If you like mixing business with please, then the TF Royal Theatre is the place to be this evening when Castlebar Chamber of Commerce host a ‘speed networking’ event. The idea behind the evening is to allow businesses to develop new relationships and in turn secure new clients. The event gets underway at 7.45pm and all businesses in and around the county town are invited to attend.
League football title for Westport’s Rice College
Rice College captured the Connacht Colleges Second Year ‘B’ Football League title on Wednesday. The Westport side beat Holy Rosary College, Mountbellew by 3-6 to 0-4 in Shrule. Adam McDonnell got two goals and Darragh Keaveney one, while captain PΡdraig Keane was the game’s outstanding player.
