Knock flights disrupted by UK snow; Mayo name hurling captain; Olywn still favourite for Talent Show
Disruptions to flights at Knock
Heavy snow in the United Kingdom is likely to affect flights in and out of Ireland West Airport Knock today, and possibly tomorrow. A spokesperson for the airport advised the travelling public that scheduled flights are subject to delay and possible cancellations. Luton Airport remains closed until further notice due to snow but Stansted Airport has now reopened, although delays are expected. Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for further information.
Mayo hurlers announce captain
Westport hurler Conor Ryan has been named as the Mayo senior hurling captain for 2010. Ryan’s consistently excellently performances last year in the green and red earned him the Mayo Hurler of the Year accolade, as well as a place on the Christy Ring XV All-Star team for 2009. Meanwhile, Kerry will be the first hurling visitors to the new McHale Park next Sunday as Mayo begin their National League Division 3 campaign at 2.30pm.
Olwyn still favourite for All-Ireland talent show
Ballyhaunis schoolgirl Olwyn Murray is now the 10/3 Favourite to win the All-Ireland Talent Show, according to Boylesports. The show reaches the semi-final stage next weekend, with Olwyn due to take the stage during the second semi final on Sunday March 7. “Olwyn Murray has certainly justified her place in the semi-finals,” said Nicola McGeady, Entertainment Spokesperson for Boylesports.
